Ranbir Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi would no more be clashing with each other at the box office. Though Anjaana Anjaani and Crook: It's Good To Be Bad were earlier supposed to release on the same day i.e. 24th
September, there has been change in plans. To avoid a box office clash, Mukesh Bhatt, producer of Crook, has decided to postpone the film by a fortnight.
"There is no point clashing when you can arrive solo", says Bhatt whose last production Tum Mile had also starred Emraan Hashmi in the lead, "We would now be coming on 8th October. It is a good date for us since there is no other film for competition and we would be enjoying a solo release."
The change in plans for Crook is yet another instance of a filmmaker deciding to change the release plans in wake of competition. A few days back, Karan Johar had no qualms in pre-poning his We Are Family by a week once he found Salman Khan starrer Dabangg to be too strong a competition on 10th September.
Given the fact that Bhatt has now made the first move; didn't it lead to any ego hassles for him since he has been in the business for two decades now? Did he ever feel that it was akin to taking a step back by changing plans and allowing Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani a free run?
"See, I am a businessman first and a producer later", says Bhatt whose has a good track record as far as aking successful films in controlled budgets is concerned, "I want to see what works best for my film. I
can't get emotional about such matters. I don't mind coming after Anjaana Anjaani. I am confident about Crook and 8th October is the right time for the film to arrive."
Directed by Mohit Suri who has given multiple hits for Vishesh Films in the past, Crook is about racial discrimination against Indians in Australia. Marking the debut of newcomer Neha Sharma, the film has music by Pritam and also stars Arjan Bajwa in an important role.
While promotion of Crook would kick start in the first week of September, it also gives Emraan Hashmi a breather to relax after all the euphoria of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Meanwhile, euphoria is just beginning for Anjaana Anjaani which has already found itself in the fast lane, courtesy it's song and dialogue promotion which has started with a bang.
